Acting – My Journey
Sam’s passion for acting began at the age of four, playing the prestigious role of The Cow in “Are You My Mother.” Since, a life dedicated to training, travel, good food, the stage, and the camera has followed.
Sam grew up in Charleston, South Carolina performing with The Charleston Stage Co. in one of America’s oldest theaters, The Dock Street Theatre. He moved back to Chicago for college where he received a BA in Performance Studies and Communication from University of Illinois Chicago. Sam has trained at The Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, Acting Studio Chicago, The iO Theatre (Improv Olympic), and The Second City.
Sam’s favorite theatre credits include Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein at Tony winning Lookingglass Theatre Co., playing the namesake in Sherlock Holmes in Cloud Theatre’s national tour of Turkey, The Elder Son at Blue Bird Arts, Spamalot at Wolfe Street Playhouse, and playing the namesake inTom Sawyer at The Charleston Stage Co. Sam has also helped workshop new work at Steppenwolf Theatre Co. and Lookingglass.
Sam recently won ‘Best Actor in a Short’ at the Europe Film Festival for his work in Saving Grayson, a western. He is starring in the upcoming horror movie on Amazon Prime, C.O.R.N 3. He has also guest starred on NBC’s Chicago Fire.
When not acting or collaborating Sam enjoys basketball, painting, screenwriting, road tripping, and making big ole pots of Pho for his friends and family.
